Excellent Item – Corporate Finance Software Review
YNAB 3 has so many great features and its core principle, of being an electronic envelope system/zero based budget, has completed transformed our philosophies about managing money. We are in so much better control of our finances and the sense of peace it offers us is huge.
This software has helped me in so many ways with respect to money management. I have Quicken and Money, but both were really a waste of money for budgeting.
You can go to your banks web site and do an export and YNAB will then import this data. The reporting and printing is satisfactory, but not a deep part of the program.
I’ve been a Quicken user since the DOS days (around 20 years), and have tired of the level of detail I need to track and the time it takes to do it. For those previous reviewers complaining that the positive reviews sound like propaganda (I’m paraphrasing), I assure you I have no connection with the company at all, and had never heard of YNAB until quite recently.
Overall, though, it’s hard to beat the power and simplicity of this program. While it’s not immediately intuitive, to anyone willing to understand the “YNAB Way” and work with the four rules, this software program can provide powerfully simple assistance in budgeting. I highly recommend it. I wanted to get my finances in order so I took Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University. While that’s too much for me, there will be some who won’t be bothered by it. I’d recommend to the software designers fewer fancy graphics effects and more text-based reports. This system basically works by, as one commenter said, living off your last month’s income. While hard to accomplish, once you do, this makes life MUCH easier. I personally develop software. I find this software to be incredibly sound, thorough, and succinct. It’s easy to look at your bank account and think “I’m doing alright,” only to be hit with a bill you’d forgotten about. With YNAB, you plan for every bill. Reviews for Quicken have continued to go down…so I didn’t even try it. Then just last month, I stumbled into the world of YNAB.
We’re not doing that yet because we’re so new to the concept of budgeting that it’s better for us to learn to control our spending if we enter everything in manually. I think it’s hilarious that someone thinks all of these positive reviews are false.
I will not use any other software, it rocks! I have been involved in personal budget counseling for several years, but never before found a computer budget program that worked like I wanted – YNAB Pro does everything I have ever dreamed of.
YNAB is more than just software. It’s a whole approach to budgeting.
I consider myself fairly financially savvy. I understand financial concepts very well and have worked in finance for some time.
After wasting hundreds of dollars on Mint.com, Quicken, and Mvelopes, I gave up on budgeting software programs. OZONE MACHINES.
