Facebook Is Stupid For Saying Email Is Obsolete

Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg gave a discourse at the Nielsen Consumer 360 forum recently and said that electronic mail is most likely going away.

The reason that she said this is, in consumer tech, if you want to understand what people like us will do in the future, you look at what adolescents are doing right now, and the most up-to-date statistics say that just 12% of young people use electronic mail.

So Sheryl is telling us that more teenagers are on Facebook and as a result, in the future, all adults will be on Facebook.

Ludicrous.

There is no basis in reality for this statement.

For example, in 2000, youth starting purchasing ipods so, all adults in the future will be buying ipods so you must consider Apple as especially a precious business right now for the reason that some day, all adults are going to be Apple clientele.

That’s vague logic at best. Who is to proclaim that these same adolescents are going to be attracted to Apple in 10 or 17 years? The earth is not stagnant, specially technology. Some other corporation will in all probability release something still better which makes ipods obsolete this many years from the present. And so if ipods are even on the market in 16 or 22 years from now, who can declare that human psychology does not prescribe that a certain amount of teenagers outgrow them as they mature, change, have greater burden and responsibilities on their life like providing groceries and housing for a wife or a infant.

This logic is a gigantic heap of dung that COO Sheryl Sandberg voluntarily stepped into by her own actions.

Although it gets even dumber.

A new marketing poll shows that teenagers are in reality leaving Facebook for three reasons: 1 – youth are no longer on Facebook because their parents are there now, 2 – for the reason that there are too many adult people nearby, and 3 – they are worried regarding privacy.

So following COO Sheryl Sandberg’s logic, Facebook is in trouble because youth are starting to use it less.

Sheryl Sandberg was attempting to build up the value of Facebook in peoples minds with her statement of look at what adolescence are doing in the present day, however what she ended up doing was reaching exceedingly far and stepping on a slimy slope that has opened the door for criticism.

Now what does Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg have to say about this new marketing poll of adolescence that reveals their use is going down? She has ran off akin to a dog with its tail sandwiched between its legs.

And so that’s the reason why Facebook and COO Sheryl Sandberg get this week’s stupid business move of the week prize.
